How do you balance it all?
How do you fit it all in? Family, pets, exercise, work, chores, eating healthy, side hustles, friends? How do you fit everything in you want to, plus the surprises life throws your way, when the daily tasks simply take up too much time? As a wife, someone who works full time, a Viszla owner, a business owner, a part-time Pilates mega reformer instructor, and a woman in her early-thirties family and life planning, I ask myself this question ALL the time.
Having a routine is what keeps me sane. In my ideal daily routine I wake up by 6am to fit in a Run Method workout, I’m out walking the dog by 7:15am (unless I have to go into the office and my husband walks the dog), I’ve got breakfast and coffee in front of me by 9am, I work my full-time job until 5pm, I teach my evening Pilates classes, have dinner with my husband, clean up the house, and I’m in bed by 9:30pm. Things change if I’m in the office our teaching at evenings, but for the most part, that is my daily routine. Where I’m struggling now, is fitting in growing my business with Run Method. How do I find the time?!
While I haven’t found the perfect routine yet to accomplish my side-business goals, I’m leaning into the fact that if something is important to me, I will carve out the time to do it. I believe I am able to build regular habits that will allow me to grow my business. Daily and weekly to-do lists help big tasks feel manageable, cutting out doom-scrolling makes me feel more productive and less focused on comparing myself to others, and clearly communicating who does what with my husband (I cook, you clean, I walk the dog you go to the gym, etc.) helps balance the household workload while giving each other the time to fit in what we each need.
Do I think I’ll be able to do it all forever? No! But I know that I’m in the beginning stages of something that I hope will be wonderful so putting in the extra work now is worth it.
And no matter how big my to-do list is, I always try and make movement non-negotiable because I know moving my body transforms my mood and allows me to show up better in all other areas of my life. This non-negotiable was the impetus for the Run Method Studio after all, and I hope to practice daily movement on the regular with you.
