The Method/Workout

No, you do not need a treadmill in your home! For the Run Method Tread classes, you can take the running portion outside (along with your mat), you can take the classes at a gym with treadmills, you can even swap the running portion for biking depending on what equipment you have. The method is designed to combine low impact Pilates with cardio (running, walking, cycling, rowing, whatever form you prefer). There are also Pilates only classes that do not have programmed tread sections.

No! All Run Method classes will guide you through moves to help you either learn running skills or enhance your running performance, whatever level you may be. Our hope is to help people who do not consider themselves runners fall in love with running through guided tread sections that are typically 8-20 minutes long and feel great when paired with low impact Pilates moves.

Access to running or cardio equipment (outdoors, treadmill, bike. Etc.) is necessary for the tread classes. A mat is also recommended for your comfort. Optional equipment used throughout classes include light to medium weights, booty bands, ankle weights, and a Pilates ring, though all Pilates moves can be done without equipment and using mind to muscle connection to build resistance.

Run Method Tread classes typically have a total of 8-20 minutes of running. Run Method Strength classes have two running sections (think two 9-minute running sections broken up with Pilates) and Run Method Sculpt classes have one running section only (think 20-minutes of Pilates with 10-minutes of running). Running on the tread can be replaced with walking on the tread for beginners!
-
Yes! The Run Method Pilates classes are Pilates based classes only that do not have programmed Tread sections. You can also take the Run Method Tread classes and replace running with walking.
-
We recommend beginners start with a Run Method Pilates class to understand the basics of mind and muscle connection, which is the foundation for both Pilates and running. From there, hop into a Run Method Sculpt class to try out a Pilates and tread combo as these Sculpt classes are both shorter in duration than the Run Method Strength classes and only have one tread section.
-
Every class begins on your mat with Pilates exercises designed to warm-up your body and prepare you for what is next. For Run Method Tread classes, the first mat section is considered a dynamic Pilates warmup designed to both warm up body and mind, and to activate muscles critical to running, so that when you step on the tread you are ready to go.
